thats my idea, however i will apply a thick matte of sound deadener/insulation between it and the roof. but i will probably take the cloth, strip it and put vinyl on it.

I totally ripped off Ranger429s idea for my crew. The counter top material is nice and flimsy so it is easy to contour. The only problem is that it cracks easily, so you really need some sort of material to kind of hold it together and prevent cracking.

I used contact cement to put on my velour.

You'd think my feelings would be hurt since noone ever checks my photo albums anymore. Some time ago I ran into the same problem that there was no easily available headliner for our supercabs. I didn't want to go the route of using one from a newer model, and wanted to build something myself. I looked into materials like formica like Ranger did, and didn't like that as mentioned it's brittle. I also looked into baltic plywood, but you'd have to soak the corners and use a heat gun to try to form the corners properly. Wood doesn't generally like compound bends as it fights the grain. So, I finally came up with ABS plastic.

I used 1/8" ABS plastic sheeting which is thick enough to be sturdy, but thin enough to form. It's not brittle as you can bend it, and if you cut it out properly, it will actually push against the trim ring, and dynamic tension will help to push it up into the ceiling, which means no droop down the road. It won't absorb moisture either, which is good.

Anyway, I have a photo album completely devoted to how to build your own supercab headliner out of ABS plastic. Hope it helps.

Yes it does crack easily. I had the back window out and that is how I got mine up in one piece. It is not something you want to do by yourself either as that is how I got a small crack in mine. I put a piece of duct tape on the backside of the piece and once it was up you couldn't tell it had cracked. Like Behemoth said it is rigid once up and has that dynamic tension to hold tight to the celing to eliminate any future drop.
