I am getting some EGR pressure sensor related codes on my 95 ranger 2.3L. I have had the EGR valve disabled for years now so I am wondering what the deal is. I expect some sensors have failed but I have no idea where they are. I disabled it by taking off the hoses and capping them so it stays closed. Since it have never thrown a code before, I expect something new has happened to cause the codes and it is not related to it being disabled.
My Scangauge II says I have a code P0402 which is something to do with the EGR valve. I checked and my EGR valve is hooked up and is working because I put a vacuum pump on it at idle and the engine would almost cut out. I must have hooked it back up when I had a pinging problem that turned out to be plugs needing to be changed. My EGR valve has no electrical connections and only one vacuum line going to it.
The code went away. I cycled the ERG valve with a vacuum pump and it must have disloged something stuck in the valve. The valve was unhooked prior to this.
