I have a 2005 F150 crew cab with a 2 inch lift. I just recently began hearing a "rattling" noise that sounds like it is coming from the front driver tire area. The noise occurs after about 45mph and sounds like gravel being shook in a tin can. The noise lasts anywhere from five seconds to 20 seconds and then stops. Then after a few miles it will do it again. So far I can't find any correlation with such things as hills or turns. I'm not sure if the two are related but a week a before the noise started I had the tires rotated and balanced. Any ideas?
Just posting an update. Truck has been at the dealership for one week now. So far they have changed both IWE solenoids, both lower support arms, an alignment, a vaccuum hose for the 4x4, and finally they "say" they found a short in a wire between the IWE solenoid and another module and replaced it. The truck is still making the grinding noise and we are now approximately $1100 into it and it is STILL sitting at the dealership.
