First, I apologize if this has been covered before. I did a search and came up with several thousand responses, so either this is a real problem or my search capabilities are no better than my mechanical skills. So, to the problem. I just changed my oil, 88,000 (6,000 on the oil) and sent off a sample to Blackstone. It came back with 2% fuel content which is literally twice the normal amount. They indicated i should be very concerned that one or more of the injectors maybe leaking. I did a coolant flush during this cycle and let it idle quite a bit while doing so. Is there a way to check the injectors without tearing the top of the motor apart? Thanks, gm.
I was getting diesel in my oil at the rate of 1 qt every two weeks I didnt test anything beccause I didnt know how to but I rering all injectors and problem solved
but to test I think you need to do an injector leak down test Im not shure but think you put a gauge on the fuel pressure test port and see if it will hold pressure for awhile as it sits
I wouldnt put off to long as the injector/s that are leaking may become damaged from low fuel pressure
Thanks, guys. I just changed filters (I know, but I feel better doing every 2K) at 90K and sent off another sample. Hopefully, it is just an anomaly? We'll see. One question, does idling or commuter traffic contribute to this issue? I wouldn't really think so, but..
Idling WILL increase the amount of fuel in the oil. It is called fuel stacking. Not severe in the 6.0 in the summer but that is why the rpm increase when cold and idling.
