On vehicle fuel injector testing
On vehicle fuel injector testing
My 90 f250, 7.5l has spent much of the last year in storage only started every 4 to 6 weeks or so. A couple months ago it really started to stumble when i did take it out for a drive now and then and it has become so bad it is undrivable. I'm afraid to give it much gas because the severe bucking I'm afraid is going to break something. My question is, could the injectors gum up and fail to open and/or close from a year infrequent usage and is there a way to test each injector while still on the vehicle so I can determine if this is the problem. Are the injector audiable enough that i could hook up a test connector and apply a voltage to them and listen or feel for operation. I have a fuel pressure guage so could I hook that to the fuel rail, pressure up the rail, and then one by one energize the injector and look for a drop in pressure indicating that that injector works. Also, the bucking gets worse as the truck warms up.
