Did you guys hear about the guy that went AWOL right before he was supposed to deply to Iraq, then showed up the morning of deployment with his C.O. papers?

I don't have a link to the story (I'm not that slick), but apparently this guy is accusing the Marine Corps of misrepresenting the job he was signing up for. He said "They never advertised that Marines kill people."
I heard him on the radio. He sounded kinda limp...he joined the Marines to try to get into BERKELEY!!! He said he was decieved by his recruiter and had the illusion it would be like the Boy Scouts.
And he's blaming the Marines for coercing him into joining.
What do you guys think? Also, if you have the link, slap it on here!

Jeez... People these days. Marines = Boy Scouts, never. Even kids know that Marines are not like scouts.

Too bad... The armed forces were probably the best thing that could have happened to him sexuality aside. Better to weed him out now before someones life is depending on him. Two years seems about right...cleaning toilets and butlering the other new recruits 24/7.

I was listening to Rush yesterday and he pretty much took this guy apart. He played audio of the interview this kid gave. A Marine called in and said that BEFORE you join, you are explained what a consciencios objector is and then asked if you are one. Apparently, he said "no". Another case of someone not being able to stand up for their own decision and putting the blame on someone else. He also went through boot camp and was told from the beginning that "kill, kill, kill" is all you are to think(even when sweeping the floor of the barracks). That's what Marine's do. I think he should go to jail and be dis-honorably discharged, which will follow him for life. I'm relieved that he didn't go, think of the live's that were saved. One of my uncles and one of my aunts were(are) Marines (no such thing as a former Marine) Both are out now. Uncle served in Vietnam and aunt was a guard on the President's helo. Also, I have a cousin in Afganistan right now (Air Force).

Now compare that story with the one about the recently rescued POW, one private Lynch. Scuse me.....that's Pvt. JESSICA Lynch. The latest stories tell how she fought till she ran out of ammo, "fighting to the death". Just goes to show that testicular fortitude isn't necessarily gender specific. I'll take one of her over a battallion of his kind any day.

My $.02 says that once CO status is proven and granted, they still have to pull their time, plus one year. Any monies that they are given for tuition is forfeit and must be paid back out of the salaries they draw. And I agree with others who've said they're glad he didn't get shipped out. He'd be a hindrance to the good men and women we already have there doing their jobs.

There are other things I'd like to see done too, but the PC police whould have me shot at sunrise!!

He is still a better man than Sean Penn.

After reading that second link, all I have to question is why they go in with their mother's support? Where is the father? Or is that part of the problem?

Mom could have done the first thing right in his child rearing and slapped the crap out of him and sent him back.

Too bad, What did he think was going to happen? A big don't ask, don't tell slap and tickle party in bootcamp.

I'm okay with shooting him. It would have happened on the battlefield. If you let the first coward cut and run, others will follow. The bullet between the eyes from his Sgt. helps put a stop to that.

This guy sounds like a bigger coward than Osama Bin laden hiding in his hole sending others to their death.

Now, I don't have a firm grasp on how things work in the military, but if he were to tell his C.O. that he didn't have it in him to be on the front lines, might they have granted him a transfer to another section of the fight, i.e. mess tent, maintenance, communications, etc.?
That seems alot more honorable than turning your back on your fellow countrymen.

Did you see the responses from his "supporters"? "Killing is wrong, and the military coerces people to kill". I think we have a moron of the year canditate here. Please, repeat that to me when somebody drops a bomb on you. Besides, the only reason you are here today is because somebody in our military killed somebody in another army, and protected your right to sit here and say war is wrong. Go home.

I was going to just report this post to the moderator and let him handle it, but then THAT would be the coward's way out, so I'll do it here instead. Dear Mr. Moderator: you've punished others on this site for "stirring the pot," for making "inflammatory" posts. One in particular has a somewhat liberal point of view. Yet, comments from the conservative side go unmentioned. This particular post goes beyond politics, however. I find the actions he's condoning downright disturbing. "The bullet between the eyes from his Sgt. helps put a stop to that"- ?! Even General George S. Patton himself would never have approved of punishment that violent and extreme. Maybe I'm the only one here that finds attitudes like this frightening. If that's the case, then I'll hang up my hat and go elsewhere. Sharing cyberspace with a psychopath is something I can live without.

Two days after the incident at the 15th Evacuation Hospital Patton sent a memo to all commanders in the 7th Army: "It has come to my attention that a very small number of soldiers are going to the hospital on the pretext that they are nervously incapable of combat. Such men are cowards and bring discredit on the army and disgrace to their comrades, whom they heartlessly leave to endure the dangers of battle while they, themselves, use the hospital as a means of escape. You will take measures to see that such cases are not sent to the hospital but are dealt with in their units. Those who are not willing to fight will be tried by court-martial for cowardice in the face of the enemy."
http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/2WWpatton.htm

Time for a little history lesson, Patton would have shot him personally.

Read the paragraph below the one I quoted for an unedited version of Pattons feelings on cowardice.

you know, there are so many things one could say about the behavior and statements form "liberals" that it would overload this server.

let me tell you whats inflamitory........"one in paticular (who) has a somewhat liberal point of view" making a compairison to our war on terrorism to **** germany! THATS inflamitory!

while Rangers words were a bit harsh, i dont think his point of view differs from anyone who is in the military or anyone who has to trust their life to the person next to them.

PATTON? you mean the same man who said " you dont win by dieing for your country.........you win by making the other poor dumb ******* die for his". you mean that Gen. Patton?
