Hey guys. I am trying to replace my front headlight housing and am having some serious issues trying to remove the clips so that I can remove the housing. Do the clips come straight up or what? I have sprayed them with WD and still can not get them removed. My X is a 2001. Thanks!
TX that is exactly what has happened to me. I guess since I broke the tabs off I am going to have to find someone local that knows what they are doing.
Hello. New to the post. I purchased the 2005 (one piece) headlights to swap out with my original 2000 two piece. I realize the header will have to be modified. What about the headlight adjustment screws. It is not the same on the 2005 lights. There are two tabs at the top but nothing at the bottom. Are they eliminated and the headlight just screws into the header? If so how would you adjust the headlights. Any help would be appreciated.
You will have to get some J clips for the top in order to adjust. I didn't really need to adjust mine but then that's just me. You could always use real thin washers on the bottom screws if you needed to adjust. Just a thought.
The clips are pushed to far down. You should bend the tab out carefully not to destroy the clip and pry up on the clip. When the clip is removed restore clip to original shape. you will see a V in the center which has sort of rounded on both sides. That is where the clip should be seated into groove. The top of the clip will be an upside down L. If the clip is pushed all the way down the L will lock into the groove making it difficult to remove.
Ok. So what you are saying is that the new headlights make the old adjusters obsolete and you just have to shim and do whatever it takes to adjust the new lights. I read somewhere that you had to get a Stainless Steel Headlight upper mounting kit for the conversion. I believe it was dfuser.com. Thanks for quick reply
