I have been trying to get my glass cut here local in Cinti.I have called several glass shops and all of them want me to supply patterns. I have located a front glass but can't find a rear. This is for a 51 cab.
Any suggestions.
I made a big window for the rear doors I welded together for a hatch door. I had Apple Auto Glass cut the glass for me. All they required was a temple of the opening. I bought a sample of the weather strip that will hold the glass in and they adjusted accordingly.
The glass company should be able to make a pattern from the opening in your cab. If they won't do it just ask them how much smaller they think the glass should be than the opening to allow enough room for the window rubber. I have a glass from a '51-52 I just got with a '48 panel truck I bought. I can trace it and sent the pattern to you if you want. PM me if interested.
This is the link for the NPD website for the back glass. 66.95 for the 51-52 Rear glass. I think this would probably work the best instead of trying to get something close from a local vendor.
While I try to use local vendors, no one seemed to want to cut glass locally, so I ordered the whole mess from LMC. You do pay an oversize shipping charge, but if you order all the glass at the same time you only pay it once.
I guess this would be a good time to mention it....I just put in my rear glass. I bought both the seal and the glass from Blue Oval. I recently posted a step-by-step for installing the windshield....the rear glass is a similar job, except that the glass and seal are installed from the inside & you pull the seal out (opposite of the windshield which is an "outside-in" job.
I have to say that the rear seal arrangement is a PITA. It's a big bulky seal with an extra lip on the inside which is presumably for the headliner.
