I have 95 f150 xl 2 wheel drive and ever since i've gutted my cat my hp has really dropped. my exceleration sucks, can't even do a burnout and my truck once to shift into overdrive at 45 mph. i've noticed to that in second gear it sputters and i have to push the gas peddle to get through it. in overdrive under no load i can be doing 60 and going up a small incline my mph drops by 10 and i have to push the peddle to down shift.
i'll read some posts on here regarding empty cats, a bad o2 sensor and hp loss. my plugs are new along with my distributor cap. i forgot my mention that my gas gauge doesn't work and i've taken the rear tank off the truck and am using the front tank. the guage never worked in the front tank, but did in the rear until it stopped sending gas to the engine so i just took the rear tank off not needing two tanks........do i just need a new sending unit in my front tank to fix all these problems? my pap gave me this truck out of the blue on day and it has sentimental value to me and i'd like to keep it in good running order..... the truck only has 85,000 miles on it and has never been wrecked and i've done a transmission flush.......thanks

Don't start guessing at what your problem might be it'll just cost you money in the long run, do the proper diagnosis by pulling the codes and checking fuel pressure, that should point you in a direction and rule out a bunch of other things at the same time. In general it's not that likely that the O2 sensor is the source of your problem, it could be a lot of things and could also be a combination of things. You can pull the codes without any special tools by following the procedure here... Ford Fuel Injection , but a code reader like the Equus 3145 certainly makes it easier and more mistake proof. You will need a gauge to measure fuel pressure, these can ofen be rented or borrowed from auto parts stores.
