Well, I managed to do it. I killed the T18 in my F250. Apparently the PTO cover gasket leaked, and it ran pretty much dry. I didn't notice it as I have a leaky valve cover gasket, and thought the oil was coming from there.
So, remember to keep an eye on your transmission oil level, even the toughest transmission needs oil.
It's my hauling truck. It has only had 8000miles put on it in three years. Not really an excuse, but not something you always check.
I am not too disappointed, though, as I have a 7.3IDI and ZF 5speed ready to drop in. I guess this gives me an excuse to get going on that swap, as if 7.5-12mpg wasn't enough of an excuse.
