What you did sounds right. I was referring to when someone said air will come out around the dipstick tube and ccv. When I tested mine I removed the plastic piece that the ccv hooks to so that there was no air going into the crankcase. That's all. As long as you sealed up the leaks you had you should be good!

Yeah, mine is post CCV also. Some people dont do that and I wouldnt allow pressurized air into the Crankcase either.
no soot by the pipes...but im going to check the bolts on the collector this weekend...i did use the "better" thicker donuts. i guess time will tell...thanks again
