I have the 2000 XLT that didn't come with factory fog lights. My new brush guard has holes for fog lights and I want to make a clean install. Im hoping that I could wire them into the headlight switch because like the trucks with factory fog lights I can pull the switch out ( i just don't know if it will do anything). If anyone has done this mod let me know if it works, if not maybe I can make a new mod

I would put the fog lights on a separate switch rather then buy a new head light switch that is used on trucks with fog lights.
Plus this way your fogs will definitely stay on when you hit the high beams.
Here's a schematic by jtharvey for reverse lighting. Just substitute fog for reverse and ignore the factory reverse wire and diode.

Robin is correct. With the factory installed fog lights, the switch pulls out to turn them on. But when you switch to 'High Beam', the fog lights go out..... I don't like that very much, I want them to stay ON......
Go with a seperate switch to give you more control.
When Marty & I put my fogs on the truck we used the parking lites to trigger the relay. I really like it that way, fog lights are on with high or low beam.
Or you can install a Brite Box and have lows, highs, and fogs all at the same time. When people flick their high beams at me, I flick mine and the look on their face is priceless. They always look like they're staring into the sun.
