Fog Light Mod??
I've seen the Mod for using the fog lights and the brights at the same time. But I was curious if anyone has used the OEM switch to use the fog lights and the parking lights at the same time?

if youre not familiar, you ground a wire so the fog lights dont cut out when the brights are turned on. This means they work whenever you can pull the headlight switch out, no matter if the brights are on or off.
i dont think this is necessary if all you want to do is use them with the parking lights. mine did this before the mod and i see a lot of trucks doing the same thing. is yours different?

maybe its only the newer trucks. is it the same size opening? i had to replace mine and i think it was $50 or something if its worth it to you.
or you could rewire behind the switch so the fog lights are triggered by the park lights instead of the switch. then they would work there and with the headlights but only turn off when your headlights are turned off.

I'm pretty sure it's different from the 05 model and my 03. It just seemed to me that there might be a simple piece of plastic that I could widdle down some with an exzacto(sp) or utility knife.

Mine is an 03 I assumed they didn't make the switch untill 05. If someone knows different then a switch change might work. If you have a link to that article I would really appreciate it

if you drive with parking lights on without headlights you can get a ticket, my buddy got nailed about 2 months ago i couldnt believe it, cop said parking lights are for parking you must have headlights on with them to drive, virginia could be different and fairfax county has some terds

California is the same way, you will get stopped if you are driving with parking lights on without the headlights!
Also in California it is only legal to use your foglights in conjunction with your headlights!

I've modded the foglight switch on a couple of different trucks. I think the auto headlamp switch allows you to use the fog lights and parking lights only.
On my 02 in particular, I removed the switch. I removed the back cover from the front cover. This requires loosening the melted pins holding the facia on. Inside you will see the ramp that allows the **** to be pulled out. You grind back the ramp until it allows the swtich to be pulled out in the parking lamp position. Then you can reassemble the switch, and use some epoxy (i usually use jb weld) to reattach the area with the pins.
