Hello all. I just found an "old school" 1988 e350 with 30,000 original miles. She runs like a top.
I want to turn her into a dually for no other reason, just to have a little fun. I'm wondering would it be feasable to try to put a f350 (same year) rear end on her?
What would be involved and would it be compatable?
Any comments are greatly appreciated.
Assuming your van has a Full Floater axle, I think it would be a lot easier to just use adapters made for this specific purpose. If you want the same wheels on the front, then you will need adapters there for sure. Ford uses adapters/ spacers on the front for their factory duallies.
You'll need a dually axle for this. You can't put dually wheels on single wheel axle, the inner rear wheels will be on the leaf springs.
F-series trucks axles don't have the spring perches in the same place, so if you wanna go that road, you'll have to fab up new spring perches.
And you don't really need them, but if you want matching wheels all around, you'll need these dually adapters.
A good tip, find a scrap yard that has an old Ford E350 motorhome, you get a good low mileage dually axle witch will be a direct bolt in to your van, and the front dually adapters.
