I have a 1990 F2504x4 that I am putting a flatbed on,
and just need the dually wheels on the back if I buy the 4wheels for the back will they just bolt on?? somebody said I need an adapter but I already have the long wheel studs and the full-floater axle so I have the same axle as the dually trucks so will the rear duallys just bolt on???

I need to know solid information please, from someone who knows.

thanks
Joel Thomas

Hmm, now you need to look at how much room is between the inside of the tire and the leaf spring. On my single rear wheel 1986 F-250 with the 10.25 Ford rearend, there is only about 3" of clearance between the inside of the tire and the spring. No way, no how is there enough room to put the inside dually rim on there. The dually wheels have about 5" less backspace than the single wheels. So you are already 2" into the spring, after adding some breathing room to the tire there is way too much to be taken up by a spacer. Either need to get a wider axle, or relocate the springs further inwards to make room. If the axle really did come out of a dually, you should be fine for clearance as it should be wider than the single rear wheel axle. OTW dually's ain't gonna fit what you have now.

As far as solid info I have none, but I can maybe help you out with a little. Something that may be of use to you is a product I have seen in jcwhitney. They have a dual wheel adapter for fullsize trucks 1945-00 1/2 ton- 1 ton. I think this is what you are looking for and since you are going with a flat bed you don't have to worry about getting dually fenders. Good luck

I am not 100% positive but I believe that the adaptor application will NOT be able to hold the same type of weight that a true dually will. The adaptor plates do make a difference and will probably work for your application but I would be VERY concirned if you were looking for it to compare to a true dually. I have heard of the studs possibly sheering off when loaded heavy. Good luck.
