My truck has a visor that sticks out above the top of the cab and contains the 5 clearance lights. First, I have kind of grown to dislike the look and second, it catches alot of wind. I want to remove it and put on regular clearance lights. There a 8 hex bolts that hold it down. I want to know if anybody has done this to a Platinum Edition Super Duty? What does it take to install the new lights? What is under that visor? It seems to be sealed with some type of caulk like sealant. How much of a mess is it to clean up the cab roof after it's off? Any help appreciated!!
If you would like to get rid of that visor. I would be more than happy to take it off your hands. I don't know about replacing the visor with the stock lights but If I can I'll swap you for them. Let me know what your feelings are.
I have been looking for the type of visor that you appear to be talking about. I thought that Iwas going to have to settle for the Lund or one of the aftermarket companies. Does anyone else know where I can find a visor like the one Waandrews is talking about. I think that it is a very good looking item.
You should be able to order one of these visors from a Ford parts counter. It is still made for F350 Dually Lariet LE Edition. I like this visor also but don't think it would cover the holes from the running lights that are standard with the F350 dually.
When I first got my truck two yeas ago (I have the Platinum) there were many of these questions on the Deisel site. Do a search over ther for a LOT of discussion.
The Platinum was designed with this visor and thus has special "hard points" built into the cab roof that all other SuperDuty trucks do NOT have. As this Visor does NOT have any air pass through areas, it is highly recommended to NOT try to mate it to a truck with out the Hardned mounting points.
I have had the only warrenty work on this truck be the Visor leaking into the overhead console so they had to remove the visor, remove all the "peel and stick" foam tape "caulk" and ordering the replacement "preformed seal" took two weeks.
I got to look at it with it off, and had thought that I might prefer to just leave it off and cover the Hard Points with the clearence lights. The parts guy has some, so we took one out to the truck and I was dissapointed to learn that the recess for the hard points would require too much of some sort of sealer to totally cover and look like crap.
I get concerned every time a big rig passes me comeing and the wind load makes the visor vibrate a LOT! 2 years and 30,000 and it is leak free and still up there, but I know for a fact that this design visor should never be simply attached to a roof with sheet metal screws. It would be a speck in the rear view mirror on the first 70 MPH trip!
OH by the way, when I took the bug deflector off, the constant visor vibration was reduced a lot. I have not found a bug deflector shape I can use yet, that does not cause the wind to shake the hell out of the visor.

I am in need of this visor. Yes it can be removed. I would recommend going to a body shop for the repairs, they can do pretty much anything you want!!. If you want to part with this, PLEASE contact me!!! I'm desperate!!
