I 1,000% don't agree with this one. I will have my Ex for a long long time. I still don't see the difference between it and the Suburban but yet the Ex always gets the bad press.
Politically incorrect was what sunk the Excursion not design. I would not trade mine for a Prius in a milion years. In fact you would have to trade it for about 4 Priuses...Prisii... or maybe a big Obama Canada made bus!

It says it flopped with no successor? Wasn't the Expedition EL Fords attempt to fill in the gap?
yes, the EL Expy is the successor. It does a good job, but the X needs to come back. My Expy EL just isn't quite large enough for me. I've got 4 kids and misc crap. The stuff fits, but it's tight
I think the author of the article was a dud. 3.5 tons is 7K lbs. 8500 lbs. is 4.25 tons. Interesting math as william_04_x mentioned.
"...it had ONLY 3 rows of seats..." I've never seen a stock SUV with more than 3 rows. If the Ex only came with 2 rows, then I would understand.
14-16 mpg city driving for an SUV of that size would not be too shabby if it were true. He might have tested it going all down hill in San Francisco and catching every single green light.
If the Excursion's gas mileage was in the mid teens, I don't believe that these so-called experts would be so hard on it. My V10 Ex gets about the same gas mileage as a buddy's Suburban did. Win the gas mileage war and win their hearts.
This is just another "Lets bash American vehicles" type of BS. The loser who wrote this crap is the same guy who listed Toyota and Honda as the best made cars in the world when Honda sales are down 60%, Toyota sales down %29 and with over 15 million recalls in the last 2 years. The most any motor company ever recalled that many cars in such a short period.
Yeah so the Excursion is big and heavy. All SUV's are big and dont get 30mpg. Everyone knows that. The Excursion didnt flop. It sold very well with over 200,000 units sold from 99-05. Which outsold the Corvette easily. Just another American car hater..... must work for consumer reports.... LOL!

Well stated! I could't have said it better! Sure is strange how everony who has actually owned an Excursion LOVES 'em!!
