thought it would be interesting to start a thread with Crash pics and stories of Excusions and/or the resulting damage to the Ex and other vehicles
So here is the start

I still chuckle at how little these things get damaged compared to other vehicles. When my mom hit the car in front of her, it wiped out the whole rear end of the volvo. Bertha only had a dent in the bumper.
Alaskanex, it took me almost a minute to see what what was wrong with your bumper.
yeah i know right...i had to pull it out with a chain because the tire was rubbing. but after pulling it out theres just alittle dent. i felt bad though the lady had 2 kids with her. luckly nobody was hurt.
i did one of them pulling the large trailer and spun around on teh freeway with a k1500 chevy in arizona. had the back loaded to heavy on the trailer i guess.. didnt turn the truck over but the trailer was laying on its side.

Don't let your neighbor with a Cadillac back into you...she's got to replace the taillight and touchup the paint on the bumper cover...I've got $3600 damage:
My Mother's neighbor and I always used to chat as we both had Excursions. I went by his house awhile back and noticed a different Ex, as well as a covered up travel trailer. Turns out something went very wrong with the trailer on the highway and flipped the trailer and Ex over. If memory serves the Ex went over once and back onto it's wheels. He and his wife opened the doors and got out. They both suffered some scratches and bruises but that's it. The Ex was behind the house and I was amazed at how well is survived this.

His first act was to buy another Ex!
You really need to encourage him to purchase and install a rear swaybar and RAS system,or he may not be so lucky the second time around..

Matt:
Any possiblity of talking to mom's neighbor in order to write a post accident synopsis of the mishap?
Nothing sensationalist or exploitative - just an honest summary of what went wrong and, more importantly, what could have been done to prevent it.
All of us are exposed to possible calamities each and every day, and the more information we can garner from his misfortune equates to more information we are able to utilize if we are exposed to similar situations.
Possible questions to ask are:
Was the accident preventable?...trailer loaded properly?...Anti-Sway in use?...Other vehicles or air push?...Was speed a factor?...What about load distribution bars?...Road too narrow???...Too rough?...Did the accident happen on a curve?...Would better mirrors have helped?...Was the Excursion pulling more than it was rated for?...Did the accident occur due to a trailer brake malfunction?...No brakes on the trailer?...
Trailers seem to be involved in an abnormal percentage of accidents and any way to make us (me) safer while trailering would be most appreciated.

Also look at the original pic I posted of the minivan into the white EX. considering that the vehicles are designed to survive frontal impacts over side impacts it says a lot about the Ex. Looks like you could almost still drive the Ex in that pic (though it looks like the rear axle U-bolts broke or shifted).. definitely not the case for the Minivan
