Ok fellars...I know this is a personal preference...But input is still appreciated...
My GF wants to get an industrial piercing, atop her 2 holes per ear she already has...
here is a general idea....2 regular holes, and the IP...
As for me, I have no piercings, none at all....Nor tattoo's....
And since she is wanting to do the above monstrosity....
I have given thought to having my ears pierced, and doing a slight gauging......
The reasoning I have for not going ***** out is simple...if I so choose to pull'em out...i won't have bolt holes as a ugly reminder....
Now...As most of you have seen form me before, I like flexibility, and versatility....So a piercing is easier for me to do than a tattoo....
But since I have never did it before...I'm still 98% on the fence...I sort of want it..but at the same time, I don't.....I guess I'm just afraid I won't like it, etc....
And as for the GF's piercing..I think they are FUGLY....UGH...In the end, i may just end up not doing anything, and talking her out of hers too...
My son got the IP when he turned 18. He now regrets it (22). I can't stand them personally. Anything that leaves permanent hole large enough to let light through is just stupid IMO. He's got several tats that I'm sure he will wish undone at some point too.
That being said, I got my ear pierced when I was 20. One ear, tiny little 1/4 carat diamond stud. Wore it for about 3 years and that was it. The hole is completely closed at this point. Never got a tattoo. Never wanted one.
I voted to leave well enough alone. Of course I'm past that stage though. If it's something you want to do, go for it. Just remember, there's a chance you might not think any of this is as cool 10 or 20 years down the road.
My ex-wife had a butterfly tattoo that turned into a teradactyl later on. Something to ponder.
From my research, and talking to a CRAPLOAD of people.....IF I get the piercings, it'll be done via a piercing needle, vs. a piercing gun like Wal-Mart uses....
Less chance of infections, etc....You get the idea...
Also....I don't want a set of bolt holes later....
As far as the Industrial goes...I'm trying my damnedest to talk the GF outta it....UGH....One set of earrings are fine...But JEZ...too many looks nasty, and cheesy....
I vote No...If someone's gonna put a hole in my the size of the plug you're thinking about getting in your ear, I better be losing a fight and getting stabbed.
That being said, Do what you want. Just remember, later in life, you may be trying to find work and a big hole in your ear will not look very professional.
@ Dave Butterfly tattoo = HILARIOUS
Not against tatts and piercings, They are just not for me!!
Eaton-That plug I posted a reference pic of uses a normal earring "Body"....Simply gives the illusion of a gauged ear.....Pull it out, the hole is no bigger than your wifes' earring holes.....
Good call...Didn't read very well and obviously didn't look very closely at the photo!! If you like the look then go for it!!!
I have a new outlook...I used to see the youngsters with these earrings and think WTF are they thinking?? Hopefully some of them have sense and have not put giant stretched holes in there ears!!
Yup.....In my case, if you guys have seen previous posts about my truck, etc...You'll know that I LOVE flexibility....And those will fit the bill quite nicely...if I choose they aren't for me....Simply pop'em out...And walk away...No bolt holes at 56......
As for the GF's industrial piercing..The bar is about as thick as the piece in an inkpen that holds the ink.....About 8mm IIRC....So yeah, it'll leave a nice set of ventilation holes...
One good thing about the holes in your Girlfriend's ears, If she takes them out and the holes stay...She will always be easy to find, just listen for the whistle as the wind blows through the holes!!

For reference....Here I am...About a week ago...
And here she is....I told her that getting that infernal bar will kill her looks stone dead...
As for me...I'm a ugly ol' SOB....So whats a couple more things to help out?
I'm not a fan of piercings. I have enough holes in my head as it is. I can't say I'd be terribly attracted to an overly pierced or tattooed girl, either. It'd be like living in the circus.
You know why women like men who have earrings? They're already partially trained. They've experienced pain and purchased jewelry.
^^^ lol its so true.
i think guages look good to a certain extent... my buddies has his guaged to 1/2 they look good now. but when he is older he doesnt wanna think about it. as for the way of tattoo's... just wait till you think of something you would want, took me almost a couple months of thinking and going to get the hood emblem off my truck on my shoulder as soon as i come across the cash

Just ask her "how good of an idea do you think it is to get a piercing that will leave large/gaping holes in your ears once you've had enough of it?" Leave it at that. Women are women. If you attempt to coerce her into not getting that IP, she'll just run off and get it to spite you.
My wife has several tattoos (from before we met). I tolerate them, but have never been a fan of tattoos. I have never had, nor will I ever have a tattoo or piercing.
