i finnaly was there and went up and talked to the mand he looked like he was 65. i asked him howmuch he was asking for the blue f-100. he looked at me and said $1600 i laughed and said the blue ford with the 240 I6 the one with a rotted bed no floor in the cab and the screwed up tranny linkage (i guessed on that one) he said YAH. but i guess i could take $600 or a little less . He said it's got a good engine that runs and it was worth more than that. i laughed in his face again and then he asked me how much i was gunna offer i told him a coulpe hundred dollars and he laughed at me so i walked out. but i am going to go and talk to him any tips suggestions or severe beatings???

thanks for ur time

He must like his truck a lot for that price (at least according to your description!). Told his wife he was gonna sell it, and put 1600 dollars on the price tag...that way he gets to keep it and she thinks he's selling it.

Naw...walk in with the 200 dollars cash (with 50 or 100 more hidden in your pocket) and see what he says then...

Tell him you found another truck in better shape for xxxx amount, and you have other options besides his. If he wants to sell it for your price, he will.

If money's an issue, don't take that truck even if he gives it to you. It will eat every penny you have and still beg for more, Once a rust bucket, always a rust bucket! The body would be only the tip of the iceburg. Can you imagine what the brakes, steering and suspension are like? Toss in your first total re-wiring job. It all adds up quick, no matter how adept you become at scrounging parts from junkers. Also, do you have a garage and the tools and equipment to tear this apart and keep it in that state for months? You can't do it next to the cvurb or in a driveway without getting into trouble eith neighbors and the law. Sorry to throw cold water on your dream, but I've been there more than once! You'd do better to find a better body with a blown motor or transmission, and go from there. Make sure you get a clear title (no liens) with whatever you buy before you pay or take possession. If "my cousin has the title, I'll get it for you by tommorrow" that's when you'll pay. Not before. Its amazing how many turds are floating in the sea of life.

Take a look in my gallery. Does the truck look in as good of shape as mine? From the way you talk I seriously doubt it does. My ole truck has 2 bad places on the whole truck that need worked on. The body has no sever rust. Just some surface rust here and there. Not a problem at all though. Has a 351windsor.

I payed $1,300 for mine which was a bit high, but well worth it to me.

lol yeah right. i wish i did but then it would be more expensive. I know it will be expensive. but this is the truck i have been dreaming about since i was like 5. I know it will take work. Lotsa work but i am prepared for that. i do not want to see it sit there and melt. that would be the saddest thing ever. i do mind if it takes till i'm 45 to restore. i just want to do it SSOOOOOOOO bad.

hay straight 6's just know what you are getting into trying to restor a 61-66 ford. Don't get me wrong I love my '63 (and my two '65's... and my '66) but there is not alot of aftermarket parts for them so peprepared to custom make and scrounge a lot of wreakers. Those 60's fords are the best ever made and i hope manufacturers will begin to realize that. I recently sent an email to Trucks TV outlining my concerns of ther lack of attention to these wonderful trucks, so cross your fingers and hope that one day they will have a feature on them.
