Well the light at the end of the tunnel (Dome Light) has gone out ... i was haveing a lil prob with the raido and dome lights going out .... lol .. well i got that fixed by replaceing #41 fuse .... well the other day i took the dome light down cause they both stoped working and i wanted to see what might have happen up there ... and i found where a paper clip had got in there .... any ways i have checked out all the fuses (they are ok ) and i took a tester and i have NO power in the dome area on the front or back ... but i do have power to the cargo light when i roll the switch on the dash .. but when the doors are open or the switch on the dash is on i still have no power in the dome light ... i have a 2003 f350 and i haul cross country and pull a 53' wedge deck with it ... it does a super job but real hard to do a log book in the dark and get it right ( and yes my wife is getting tired of holding the flash light ...lol
The later trucks are fairly complex. Do you have a door ajar indicator and is it working? And/or if you open the door with the key in the switch, does the alarm go off? If not, it's pointing to the door switches. Flooding the latch area with wd40 usually fixes that problem.
If you see indications that the door switches are working, I would check ALL the fuses. It will take some time, but the domelights are not simply triggered by a simple switch system anymore, and a fuse in another part of the circuit could cause them not to work.
yes i am sitting here in the truck as i am on the road now with it ... and yes when i open the door the light and the chime sound .... so that much is working and i have run a test lilght on All fuses and all are good ....
also where do i post a pic in my profile to come up by my sn?
You can usually put a picture in your gallery on this site, and then link to it. But sometimes you have to have at least 25 posts on the site to do certain things.
well i am at my wits end ( which was close to begin with ) but i dont see any thing wrong anywhere .... does anyone know where the 3 wires go to from the dome lights ?
If that doesn't work, make sure again that fuse #41, 10 amp, in the underdash fuse panel is ok, and fuse #35, 10 amp is ok. If they are ok, I would try the interior lamps relay located in the fuse box.
both fuese are good and the relays i have in mine are blower motor #301 powertrain relay #302 IDM #303 304 not used 305 is trailer 306 is delayed acc relay 307 is starter
Sorry, I made a mistake. The interior lamp relay on your truck is located in the instrument cluster. The manual says "it's not serviceable" which usually means it's imbedded inside the unit and can't be changed out without changing the whole cluster.
Here's a diagram of your system if you want to look at it. You can find more like this at Autozone's site. The "A" arrow feeds the lights.
