Have you tried towing in OD? I towed my old 10,000lb TT in 60t in 4th gear, 65-70 mph, and IIRC my EGT's are around 7-800.
Trans temps look normal for a stock cooler.
Towing in OD on flat terrain is ok. Its when the trans starts hunting between 3rd and 4th that you want to lock out OD.
The trans temps will go up if you get stuck doing any city driving. 7000lbs behind me had the trans temps up to 220 till I got back on open road again. A 6.0 cooler wouldn't be a bad idea.
what RPM are you at? low RPM=high EGT. when I tow, I try to keep it around 22-2500 RPM. of course my trailer alone weighs over 18K. but seriously raise the rpm alittle, I think you'll see the EGTs go down

Frank, Wouldn't he have the radiator with the built in cooler?? and the small factory external cooler?? if so he shouldn't add a 3rd cooler......

According to what Brian told me...yes. You dont want more than two coolers. But those temps seem normal for pulling that much weight.
Even with my tru cool I was running 200 on a 100 degree day pulling nothing.
If your at or under 200 pulling a load, I wouldn't worry at all.
Tranny temp started around 180, worked up to 195-200. Never over 200 but again seems high.
Any thoughts/recommendations? I think I'll add another tranny cooler Inline.
Thanks
Charlie
Driving between Asheville, NC and Newport, TN on the way to RRE, I was pulling my 10K 5th wheel up the mountains.
It was 95*. I have a 6.0 tranny cooler and never got over 180* on the tranny fluid.
Pulling the camper from Nashville to St. George Island, FL in May the temps were 90-95. Tranny never got over 170. I pull with OD. Cruise set at 60MPH (I try to save bucks driving slower) my EGT's never get above 600* @ 1700 RPM.
Get the 6.0 tranny cooler. I have a 31 row. It will save you from losing the tranny that you have now.
Check your up pipes for leaks. My EGT's were higher before I put on the bellowed uppies. Also check for boost leaks on your air cooler and pipes.

You, pre-turbo or post turbo, with your egt probe? I see those number unloaded, flat on the freeway
Well, lot of things you CAN do, but IMO your numbers are just fine. I wouldn't worry about it unless you just wanna spend the dough. One thing you should consider is towing in OD. Only time I jump out of OD is when ascending significant grades, of which I have many where I tow.....but I am in OD most of the time. I don't often use CC because it is tied into my TC lock-up and exhaust brake. I'm usually on back roads rather than freeways, so CC not real practical anyway. If and when you start towing on significant grades, go to the 6.0 cooler.
