Gentlemen,
I have recently purchased an 07 F350 4x4 Crew with the 6.0 stroker. I have noticed that when in low, or first taking off and or pulling a hill that the transmission shudders. Once speed is increased the shuddering stops. What could the cause be and is this something I should be concerned with?
Now in regards to the pin pad resetting. Is the security module under the radio on an 07 as well?
Thanks for the reply. This is a new truck to me so, that is my next step. To have tranny serviced. My RPMs are fine at idle. But, my fuel mileage is in the toilet. In suggestions to improve fuel economy??
If that truck is a SB I would venture to say you are experiencing spring wrap.
The short bed trucks are more susceptible to it, with lifted diesels being the worst. Making horsepower makes it worse too.
Every truck is different. You can take two identical trucks, shim the carrier the same, one will stop the shudder, one won't.
The dealerships were addressing the stockers for a while.
for my '03 truck, even after I had a custom CV driveshaft made, I had to custom fab an aluminum 2" carrier bearing drop, with a 6 degree angle milled into it, and then add a few shims. I could go either way 1/8" and it would still shudder. I finally got it dialed in.
If yours is a stocker it should be fairly straightforward to dial in the carrier bearing drop. It won't cure the spring wrap, but the annoying shudder can be eliminated.
