Starting when cold

update. i was having similar cold start problem as Wolffe. I was running dino Rotella. i was going to add AR9100-16 FRICTION MODIFIER, but decided not to after seeing some online comments about possible foaming. so, i switched to Mobil 1 Diesel Truck 5w40. ran it for a week with barely any improvement. then added 8 oz of REV-X. big improvement on cold start and running. i'm now a believer in REV-X. note: i still have a weird vibration running cold when it first shifts to overdrive and RPMs drop. haven't figured out yet if this is from engine or not.

I also put some Rev - x in 2 days ago. I see a HUGE difference in cold starts (it actually starts smoothly) and no smoking now as well. Barely any noticeable turbo lag as well. This stuff is the truth.... LOVE it...in the words of The Monkees, I am a Believer!!

But in reference to this situation, the hard starts, and smoking on startup eventually turned into a no start. My problem was my FICM which I have since replaced.
