Idle Control Module
Hey folks,
I've been looking into the idle control module. I got my A/C fixed just before a recent 850 mile trip. I left my dog in the car for short periods of time with the truck running at idle and the A/C fully cranked. I got back yesterday and I notice that my voltage meter is a bit left of center. If I drive a bit it goes to center or so. The weird thing is that I noticed a loss of power under acceleration. If the batteries are low, does it affect the drive-ability of the engine?

I figure it will be an excellent accesory for summer and winter, no matter the climate. BTW, I went from sea level to 7000 feet above sea level while on this trip. 60 mph at 2000 rpm's takes patience

Sounds good, what chip and what tunes? I don't really care about extra power due to the fact that I have 4.10's and only cruise at 60 MPH/2000 Rpm's. I wouldn't mind a bump over stock, economy, high idle, no start, stock, and ? You guys are the pros and know who's got what and where. What would be the total cost with tunes? Does it install easily?
$$$ is a major factor but I will not settle for less than the best when it comes to critical components

There's a million threads on that one. I have TW and have a Beans in the mail. I just can't see $200 for a high idle, to me that's wasting money. Its not hard to install at all. Pull the computer, clean the contacts on the end and plug it in. Economy mode might even get you better mileage to pay for the chip and you can have high idle with it.

If you take a few of those little screws out on the fender well and bend the plastic fender well back you can get at the big wire harness. Its a 10mm nut in the middle of the harness that releases the harness. Unplug it and puse it out of the way. Next will be two nuts, top and bottom, holding a gasket type thingee, take it off. Then all you have to do is pull out the PCM and check the code. I hope this all makes sense. If you want a reburn or whatever then you pull the emer brake bracket off and the chip is right there but at first its best to pull it out of there because you have to clean the contacts.
