Hello. This is my first post on this forum. I just bought a '66 F100 Custom Cab on Saturday. I have gotten a lot of good information from this forum just from searching and reading. Something I haven't been able to find is this: My truck has a button about 3" above the ignition switch. It is a black button about 3/8" in diameter. It has chrome trim around it. Is this something from the factory or something the previous owner(s) added?
Thanks
Grab the wiper switch...see if it pulls out a wee bit...it would be spring loaded if this is the case...thats the typical 66 window washer...the button above the switch is a pre 66 setup...I bet your das pedal is bolted to the floor vs suspended and the black firewall covers seen when hood is open are rectangle metal plates secured with 2 screws in a diagonal pattern...
If you wish, post the Warrantyl Plate info and I or a few others can decode it all for you...which includes the build date of the truck.
Applications: 1965 F100/250 / 1966 F100/250 with single speed windshield wipers / 1966 Econoline.
1966 F100/250 (from serial number 760,001) with two speed wipers: The washer switch is combined w/the windshield wiper switch (C6TZ-17A553-B / Motorcraft SW-736).
Windshield washers were an option, so not all these trucks have this feature.
Note: This push button switch was also used as a starter button on 1948/52 trucks and this is what the Ford part number reflected originally.

I'll bet it isn't, cuz the truck in question is a 1966.
All 1966 F100/250 2WD's and 1965 F100/250 2WD's from serial number 696,001 have the suspended gas pedal.
LOL...Hi Bill...LOL...I know 66 trucks were intended to have the suspended pedal...BUT I have seen on several occasions early production 66 model year trucks with the 65 cabs...nut plates in floor under cab if it has a suspended pedal when you are behind the wheel as both pedal setups will work on 65 model year trucks. The washer button(if originally equipped) and the metal access plates are the other differences in 65 and 66 cabs...
My '66 has this same washer switch. (Low '66 production number, 733308) My wiper switch has two speed settings, but it's hard to tell the difference between them really.
Great info guys. I will post the numbers from the truck when I get home tonight. The washer pump is broken. That explains why I could't figure out what the button was for. I will double check but I believe the pedal is suspended. Also, the wipers have 2 speeds. Although like someone else posted, there isn't much difference in the 2 speeds.
My '66 has this same (2C-11500) washer switch. (Low '66 production number, 733308).

1966 with two speed wipers assembled before serial number 760,001:
C3TZ-17A553-E .. Wiper Switch-4 terminals (does not include the washer control function).

1966 with two speed wipers assembled from serial number 760,001:
C6TZ-17A553-B .. Wiper Switch-7 terminals (includes the washer control function which is activated by the ****).
The washer pump is broken. That explains why I couldn't figure out what the button was for. Also, the wipers have 2 speeds. Although like someone else posted, there isn't much difference in the 2 speeds.
Welcome to FTE
C1AZ-17664-C .. Windshield Washer Motor-Use on '65/66 F100/250's with 2C-11500 washer switch on dash or with C6TZ-17A553-B combined wiper/washer switch / Obsolete/Reproduced.
See post #7 for the differences between the two speed wiper switches. I hope you haven't been confused with all the superfluous info typed between 'Squire' Don (camperspecial65) and myself.
My '66 250 has the same button, and the PO had removed the pump and washer bag reservoir...
(it never rains in California!) Replacement pumps (if yours is shot) are a piece of cake to install.
For hose, you can use 1/4" (or maybe 1/8th"??) poly hose commonly used in garden sprinklers which
go to the washer "jet" heads on the hood via a "T".
Does your truck have the plumbing etc still?
In the photos below, the red bag is the reservoir, which feeds into the pump on the right and the
1/4" poly runs from there to the jets. The bottle in the middle is for the rad overflow.
As far as the wiper speed...mine only has one...and it's pretty quick...I called my wife over to the drivers
side to "say goodbye" before going to work one morning, and when she got close, I turned them
on...woosh!...morning dew from the windshield! She wasn't impressed.

I have the hooks on the inner fender to hang the bag. The PO even gave me 3 bags. A little of the original plumbing is left, enough I think I can duplicate it. I wish my inner fenders were as rust free as yours.
This thread must be a newbie's questioners dream. I just brought home a 1966 f100 Custom Cab yesterday. It made a 50mile trip with no problem (once I learned to "suggest" what gear I wanted from the three on the tree). Everything worked, but the little black button. Now that I've found this thread, I remember that the washer pump isn't hooked up.
