advice for a good intake

so i for sure know i want a Cervini hood but i have been looking at my options and i really like the ram air hood but to make it functional its gonna be like 1300 bucks!!! but i also know i can find a good cold air intake for like 300 bucks but ive also seen them as high as like 600 which puts me in the same situation i dont know what i should spend on a cold air intake and ive thought about it and wondered if having a functioning ram air intake would just be better than a conventional cold air intake im not too concerned about the money spent because eventually im going to spend the money anyways!!! ive got a lot burning a hole in my pocket from this deployment im about to return from!!!

so any imformation would be greatly appreciated!

Pat don't buy it for the function as it is such a minnimumal improvement if any! Buy it ifyou like the look! As that's the real function of those hoods!

Agreed, there are TONS of other things you can do with that money that will make you love your truck more than a new hood will.

Tuner, Lift, Tires, Exhaust, Bumpers, Lights, Stereo....a hood might be the last thing on my list.

The 7.3 is a beast, a ram air hood just brings fresh air in around it, you want to feed it with something a little more direct, and im not getting at a functional hood, but more of something along the lines of a 6637, DP tuner, and exhaust

I agree with Cliff. Throw a 6637 intake , muffler delete , and some dp tunes and you will be all smiles.

That's because most of us just remove part of the factory airbox add a piece of 4" pipe to the end of the air inlet tube and put the 6637 on the other end of the pipe.Nice cheap and effective . I switched up to an AFE big boost filter about 2 years ago because its reusable and flows more air .

Hey chief, first off, thank you for your service...

Second, man i'm still kicking myself in the but, for spending the 300 buks on the FIPK (k/n air intake), as we speak, i'm run'n the 6637 filter, with the k/n tube, but like most members, if i would've known beforehand, i would've went the 4" exhaust pipe to couple up the 6637 to the stock air tubing. You then can do the ZOODAD mod, which will deliver cold/clean air, right to the filter. Anyway, that 300 buks saved from the AFE, can get you the DP, or whatever tunes you'd like.
