Chase, Thanks for the link, nice write up but I couldn't get the pdf links to work. P.S. I am headed up to Cub lake on the dirt bike this coming weekend.
Ford4Life7.3, No it doesn't sound like that.
Craig, No problem on the Hi-Jack. I'll check it out, it can't hurt to try.
I should have you scrounge for some parts for me as well...
It doesn't look like I am going to make it to the wrecking yard today, so Chase if you want me to I will see if I can find two sets.
I did figure out how to download the PDF's from the link you gave me so now I have another question about the wiring of the 42 pin engine connector. The schematic I have is for the 99 and newer 7.3L is it the same as the 97?

OK, Sorry I forgot to do this yesterday but I was able to figure out that while the pin-out of the connector between the SD and the OBS is slightly different, pins 2-8 and 10 which are for the injectors on the SD are the same on the OBS connector, same wire color even. So as long as you connect all the wires straight across and run pins 2-8 and 10 to your switches like the link I posted earlier you'll be fine.
If you pay attention to both diagrams you can make your box work on both OBS and SD trucks. I also suggesting getting two pairs of the connectors at the junkyard so you have all of what you will need.

All you need to do is connect all the pins straight across that don't control the injectors. The wires for the injectors are the same on both OBS and SD.
I picked up one set of the connectors from the wrecking yard they came out of a Mercury sedan, it has all 42 pins already. I had to do quite a bit of searching because they didn't want me to cut an engine harness out of a rig with a good engine. It's a small wrecking yard and out of the 8 or 9 trucks only 2 of them had the 42 pin connector the first wasn't bad to get to but it didn't have all the pins I wanted. The second truck was a pain to get to and it to didn't have all the pins, I could have taken both and morphed then together but I kept looking. They had a lot of Ford Taurus's but they all had six cylinder.
