I would like to build a test box to cut the power to one injector at a time with the engine running. Is this possible or would it screwup some of the elertronics?
I have worked on alot of diesels but nothing electronic, cummis and cat truck engines engines where we cracked injector line at a time to find out what cylinder was missing. I was thinking of using the UVC harnesses and section of an old vc gasket connector with a box with four toggle switches and check one bank at a time. What do you think?
There was one built that connected in at the 42 pin over the driverside valve cover. I think it was "Fat Diesel" that did it. He had the ability to cut one injector at a time but I agree with Kwik after looking at the plans AE is much easier and the Buzz and CCT will give you about the same diagnostic.
Yeah, I can't remember if it was Fat Diesel who did it or not but I have a pdf copy of the instructions with pics on what he did. PM me your email and I would be happy to send it to you. I think the AE would do the same but better because with the BOB you have no measurable results but what you physically observe.
it could be useful if you have a knock. I had a customers truck that had a knock to be able to disable one injector at time with out pulling VC's would have been great. AE can't do that. also on this truck the cyclinder contirbution test gave us different cyclinder each time

yes it did. guy had just bought it at auction too and didn't hear the knock till it got warmed up and the check was handed over. His 95,000 mile truck got a new (used) engine. And guess what kind of air filter it had???? anybody want to guess what causes a dusted turbo and a piston knock on a powerstroke??? you guessed it a k+n drop in filter!!!!
Edit: It does not appear to. It looks like it is a straight forward go between with switches between the connectors at the VC on the driver side. I can send it to you if you want. Somewhat tedious to assemble but simple in concept. Oh WTH, I'll send it anyway and you can do with it as you please.
And it should be in your inbox.

no it doesn't but thats not a bad idea to add! That baby would be one sweet diagnostic tool. Does anybody know if the 42 pin has the same wires in the same locations in the superduties and OBS trucks?
Guess I will have to break out the wiring diagrams to compare. superduties have the intake heater and wastegate stuff other than that I think it pretty much the same but the connector will be the trick.
