Ok so again I havent had a ton of time to do much on my project, but I did start on the engine.

The engine looks to be in really nice shape, sure shows that it has low miles on it. Alot of carbony type of crap in there though, although I am getting it cleaned slowly.

Pretty much the start, with the intake off.

How it sits now, tomorrow its gonna get a "wash and rinse" and then Im gonna start throwing the new gaskets back into it, then tape it up and get it ready to paint.

I kinda lost track on the hours, but Im presuming maybe another 3 hours, although I spent pretty much all last week of evenings out in my garage! No classes till February rocks!

No, Im going to pretty much leave it as is, just tidy it up, get it prepped for paint, going to try and get a straight edge and check everything for flatness. I really didnt wanna even take it down this far, but kinda got sucked into it! Also I broke a bolt on the timing chain cover, so I ended up wanting to fix it properly, and tore it almost right down.

I was pondering throwing a cam into it, throwing new bearings and stuff, but it really doesnt need it yet, it is in really good condition.

Better go ahead and do it all, if your budget allows.....Because you KNOW you'll wanna do it later....

Ok Update time. I ended up buying a new waterpump, and a new double roller timing chain. Other then that just cleaned up the engine, taped it off, threw some new head gaskets in (found out that with victor reinz gaskets there is a front for the head gasket, and I put one in wrong, and when I pulled it out and put a new one on, it didnt actually matter that I put it in wrong lol) and primed and painted.

Pics

Oil pan, por-15'd.

Painted

Valve covers primed (por-15 etch primer)

Painted (duplicolor graphite color)

Block and heads primed

Painted

So far this is about another 10 hours of actual work.

Man its been awhile since I updated this thread! Been awhile since I even worked on my project S.

I just acquired another truck from a friend of mine. His brother was a ford certified mechanic and rebuilt the engine, my friend put a brand new set of 16 inch goodyear mtr tires and eagle alloy rims on the truck, drove it for a few thousand kms then the truck quit on him. He parked it thinking the fuel pump was screwed, and let it be. He offered it to me, so i drove a couple hours to go get it, bought my buddy a bottle of rum and brought the truck home.

I swapped a fuel pump relay into it, fired it up, drove it for almost 100 kms tonight and the truck runs and drives great!

I was originally going to use it as another parts truck, but I think Ill just drive it as my beater truck and keep slowly picking away on my project S.

Wow has it really been 10 years since I've worked on this project?!

Ended up trading the engine for this truck for a 80s g body car, and this project kinda sat. Now I'm a high school teacher and was in need of a project, so project s is now in my school shop! The black shortbox in the pictures was way too rusty and got sold a few years ago as well.

The plan is to disassemble this truck, pull the cab and stick in on the shortbox 4x4 frame that I painted up years ago.

No idea what I'm doing for an engine now, the one in this silver truck needs to be refreshed or rebuilt, and I do have a 95 roller 351 that was I pondering, although it may be a bit much for the m5od, and I'd have to find wiring and a computer.

Still nice to have this ol truck in the shop and ready to proceed!
