98 E150 4.6 temp sensor
98 E150 4.6 temp sensor
Hi guys,
New here but I have a question already. My 98 E150 with 4.6 v8 has a problem with the AC on the temp gauge goes to overheat after about 15 min but now with no AC on I can drive it cross country and the gauge never moves out of the normal range. So I changed the thermostat flushed the system and put all new coolant back in and I still get the same problem. I took it to a Ford garage and they told me it was the sensor for the gauge was not working right and said the sensor was around $30 but labor was going to be around $600 and said it was a major task to change. Does this sound right? where is this sensor located on a 4.6? Any pictures would be a help!

coolant temp sensor
Hi, i have same question. I have a 98e150 4.6 triton. Did u ever find where the sensor is located. I found one on passenger side in front, left of alt. But i was told that one only controls gauge and the one that send signal to computer is elsewhere.is that correct. I seen one under intake manifold toward front but was told that one only measured block temp. Can u help me with location please. I posted but am not getting any answers
The two of you should post these same questions in the Modular Motor forums here on FTE--we have a V8 section.
Because these are common parts someone there has had this same issue and almost certainly done their own repairs.
