A drone type sound
I have a sound, sort of like the sound of compression braking that just suddenly popped up on my v10 Excursion. I don't hear it when accelerating but when I get off the gas especially at higher speeds like around 80 or so, there it is. It will do it till about 40 or so then it sort of blends in with other noises and "disappears". As soon as I step back on the gas, it's gone. I have shifted the truck into neutral at that speed and noticed no change in sound so engine RPM's have nothing to do with it. I have also run it in 4WD and no change. The tire's are BFG's with 20k miles on them but I strongly doubt that's it. The u-joints aren't loose either.
Anyone have any ideas??

Howdy! I'm experiencing a similar concern. I'm going to subscribe to this and see what you find!
I have a warranty on my truck and the local dealership has done a lot to my X, but haven't quite pin pointed the problem as of yet. Hoping maybe you have more luck than me!
