Changed Fuel Filters

I changed my fuel filters today and...... I bled the system as per manual. The truck was difficult to restart.... It did restart though. Drove a few miles and I got a low fuel pressure message... Figured maybe there was air in the system. I pulled over and turned the key six times like the book says... Restarted and went on my way. Went about 18 miles same message. Pulled over checked for leaks found none... Finally ended up having truck towed to my dealer... Guess we will know more tomorrow...

In the past ...I changed my fuel filters myself.....until I had a issue with air in the system. I could not resolve the issue...the whole problem cost me about $ 247.00 ...so since then ....I now purchase my own filters and take the truck to the dealership and pay them to change the filters...cost $ 39.00 labor.....any air in the system issues...they resolve at no cost to me.....never fails....$ 39.00 dollars. I'am thankful for having suck a good dealership 8 miles from home. BTW I'am in and out in about 30 min when having the filters serviced.....I always call the day before and show up at 7:00 am.......good luck and keep us posted...

See my previous post on this topic. Dealer replaced the low pressure fuel pump between the tank and first fuel filter. Nice!

I read your posts on you filter change. I was having a whining from the fuel system for some time. I posted a video of the noise. While the noise hasn't been as loud as the video I still hear it. Service manage mentioned something regarding fuel cooler. I don't have any definitive answers yet... Maybe today

Good luck! I suspect the fuel pump was going for sometime as I did notice an improvement when it was changed. Also the whining noise was very prevelant after the fuel filter change and was what lead the tech to order a new one. Never heard of a fuel cooler. Keep us posted.

When you tightened it, do you remember turning it all the way to the stop position? The last rotation takes a fair amount of force but eventually the filter bowl will come up against a hard stop where you can clearly turn no more. Do you think you stopped short of that?

That's what I'm reading and you're not the first to have the air leak issue. The bowl needs to be turned all the way up to the stop. If you didn't feel the mechanical stop when you were re-installing the bowl, it wasn't far enough. Did you see the fuel filter change video where you can clearly see the stop point?

Well, that is a good idea. I will try it but I don't think that the dealer will go for it. Hummm. Maybe I can get an independent mech to do it.

thanks ken
