The stock Ford gaskets are OK to use......but you want the ARP studs.....

Yes

I used them. No problems. That seems to be a great price for them. I think I paid right at $200 for mine.

Here is a post from a mod on TDG:

I'm on my second set of Black Onyx gaskets. The first set lasted 8600 miles. When Dan pulled the heads off again he said it appeared that the gasket material was defective around cylinder #5. The maker of BO said they would only cover the gasket, none of the labor involved to replace it.

I had the heads milled the first time, and they were checked again the second time, along with being magnafluxed for cracks. The heads were perfect and the studs nuts were still torqued to spec. The Ex has never towed in our possession and we were running a mild tune that was written for us when we still had the bolts in.

When I do the studs, I will go w/ OEM gaskets. Many people making well over 500 hp still use the OEM gaskets.

who knows.....

Everyone has a different experience with any part and any installation. It's like asking someone what contractor to use for a job, one has a great experience and the other a disaster. Regardless ARP studs are a must.

I don't use a tuner but I pull a heavy travel trailer. I have about 10k miles since the HG replaced. I hope it lasts a loooong time.

I would stick with OEM. Heard of to many failures with black onyx. From what I have read a lot of the people that work on these things daily have stopped using/sailing them.
