I have a 2003 F150 Lariat SuperCrew that I have finally paid off, and want to make modifications to. The first thing that I want to do is replace the rear bench seat with bucket seats. I was thinking of getting a set of matching front bucket seats and installing those. I am wondering the process that is required, and the likely hood of a positive outcome with little to no modifications. If need be I will modify, but right now I am looking at the options I have with minimal modifications.
The mounts are different, so the best way do determine your course of action would be to remove the rear seat, offer up your buckets of choice on their existing mounts, and figure out where you will have to drill (and reinforce) and what you'll have to fab to mount the seat safely and at your desired height. Buckets take more space so you will lose a lot of interior room.
It will be a fair amount of work to do properly (you don't want them coming loose in a crash). I personally wouldn't bother even if the parts were free (most of mine are) and I could do it easily.
Got any buds who work in welding or fab shops on base?
A paid-off vehicle is a Good Thing. Do regular "PMCS" and your truck should serve you well.
