I've been looking for an '88-'92 extended cab F150 for some time now (New to the board, btw ) I've found a sharp '90 XLT Lariat. At this point, the big thing that concerns me is the rear seats. I'd really, really rather have the rear bench as opposed to the sideways "jump" seats that this one has. (I'm going to be putting two car seats in the back.)
Was the bench an option for that year?('90) - Seems like I saw a '91 that had a bench. If not, can a rear bench from another year be swapped in? If not again, how well do child seats mount and ride in the jump seats? (Although that's really not a real serious question, as I wouldn't feel good about that option just by looking at it.)
Again, my main reason for buying an ext-cab is for the ability to carry two adults (my wife and I), and two kids - baby seat, and booster-type seat. What are my options? I did a quick search of this forum and archives, but didn't come up with anything specific to this question.
I am able to get this truck @ wholesale, and, again, it's sharp, so I REALLY like it. I just hope that there's an easy way to get a rear bench in there!
I think they had bench seats for that model. My dad has an 88 F-250 with a bench for the back seat.

>I have a vinyl seat out of an '87 I'll sell or trade if it
>will work in that year.Where are you located. Dennis
I'm located in SC. What color is the vinyl seat? I have no idea whether or not that would be a do-able swap. '87-'91 were basically the same, right... hmmmm. Where are you located? Shipping of any sizable distance might kill any deal anyway...
We have a 1990 XLT Lariat. It has a full length rear bench seat and it is vinyl covered as opposed to the cloth front seat. It also has 3 sets of rear seat belts and works with car seat fairly well. Hope this is of help.

Yes, that's good to hear Craig! Odd that they'd put a vinyl rear seat in there with a cloth front, but...who knows....(the truck I'm looking at has a cloth front also).
You should be able to bolt in a rear bench seat in that '90 Supercab, from any '87-'96 Fseries truck, the holes are already there in yours for the bench, look in your local "high end" auto wrecking yard and you just might be able to find the color you need too.
The trick is finding one, but they're out there. I have a 91 F150 Extended Cab XLT Lariat, with the cloth fold-down bench rear seat. It has three lap seat belts (wish it had shoulder belts for the car seat though). The seat is great for the kids, not for long travel with adults. The folding bench is worth having since it lets you store something small in the locked truck so it doesn't "sprout legs".
Good luck finding one. You'll be much happier (and safer, too) with the bench.
Thanks for all the help guys!! Sounds like all I need to do is find one now.
I DID buy the truck (signed the papers last night ). I can use the front or jump seats in the interim - until I find a good bench.
Thanks again, and I'll be checking out this board pretty often now.
I live in east Texas. The seat is heavy,I am sure shipping would be expensive.Look around if you desperate email me I'll check shipping and we can work something out.
