It's basically the same turbo with different size wheels and exhaust housing, so it will have the same sticking issues if you don't drive it the way they're intended. (Getting groceries, short and infrequent trips.)

My dad's '03 only gets driven every 1-2 weeks now, but tows heavy when it does. Also, they're in dry eastern Oregon and I think that makes a big difference. The turbos don't always plug up with soot, often they get rusty. I would take it apart, clean it well, do a rust-killing treatment like Ospho, and then put a light coating of high-temp anti-seize on the moving surfaces.

I think your right moisture content in the air has a lot to do with it. I already tried the anit sieze too so we shall see. Like I said I have to nurse the oem turbo until I save some pennies so I am excited to get the Power max.

I read somewhere that a company had a coating available that would work. Can't remember where the thread is though.

You could take it apart, clean it, and have it coated with a high temp ceramic coating. I wanted to do that with my new PowerMax, but I was sure it would void the warranty.

There are alot of industrial coatings that would work great......cost however is another issue....Personally I would go something that has more wear resistant properties and extremely slick under extreme heat....

TD coating (thermal diffusion)
TIN coating (titanium nitride)
TIALN (titanium aluminum nitirde)

Ceramic coating just protects the substrate from heat...but so do the other three that I recommend....

That would be good to coat the vgt vanes, syncro ring, and housing....
