Let a friend borrow my truck last night and while driving he switched to a tank that hasn't been used in several years. Brought it back running rough, and I swapped back to the tank with fresh fuel and drove it for 10 miles but it's still running rough. Could something have happened with the old diesel? He said it didn't start running rough till just a few minutes before I got it back.
1990 F-250 7.3 Banks Turbo. 107k miles and ran perfect yesterday. Seems to smooth out a bit at 2400rpm but at idle it shakes worse than my chihuahua in the snow.
Nah no new fuel except the 5 gallons I put in the regular use tank yesterday and mixed it with a bit of injector cleaner, stood on the throttle in my yard for 10 minutes holding it between 1k and 2k rpm. Smooth above 2k, idles rough at 800 but never tries to die. Little light blue exhaust when holding at 2k. Never smoked before, ran like new.
I've heard a seafoam suggestion, but know that'll probably smoke out my neighborhood as well.
