dead pedal

Ok guys I know there are alot of these type questions are being but I'm going to ask it again. My dad has a 04 f250 with aroundit 60000 miles and the pedal is going dead. I've not seen it do it just what he tells me but he says it runs perfect but occasionally when he let's off the accelerator it quits. He says it idols perfect not ruff no missing just won't go. He has to kill it start it back up and it takes right off. He also says it starts right back up first try. Is this just the pedal or the icp sensor or something else? Thanks

Take the truck and have it scanned for stored codes first. If it was the pedal I'd think it would store codes. It's also possible the harness has a short--typical on 04's.

I understand your description of the problem. My truck acts like that occassionally when I get off the skinny pedal coming to a stop....sounds like it wants to die, gets under normal idle speed, but then "catches" itself.

Not all code readers are created equal, some things don't show up on cheaper readers if thats what they used.

What kind of code reader do I need to use? Is there low priced one that is good?
