Codes, Codes and more Codes
Hello everyone. Need help. I have codes PO261,64,66,67,70,73,76,79,82. When I get a problem it is never good. The truck wants to start but will not. Thanks for any advise. 04 F-250, 6.0ltr. Tony
Check out the FICM test procedure in the 6.0 tech folder at the beginning of the forum. If you find it needs repaired check out FICM Repair.com - Your Source for FICM Repair. Ed is a great guy who does excellent work for a VERY reasonable price.
The cheapest option is repair of the unit. The FTE Tech Folder has procedures on self repair. Since (IMO) repair should be more than just soldering, I recommend sending it to someone who repairs them. SWAMPS is the most popular, and will be the most expensive. Some folks have used CircuitBoardMedics and like them. I have used FICMrepair.com (5030tinkerer on this forum) and so have a few others. He is cheaper, but the quality of his work is great. IMO he is the best value for repair services. He updates certain components that should be updated - as well as re-flowing solder.
No need to reprogram after the repair, but custom tuned FICMS are a great mod IMO. I have two FICMS with custom programs from PowerHungryPerformance. They are a great company.
The Tech Folder also tells you how to remove the FICM.
You can get out of this for around $250. Get it fixed at a dealership (assuming you are not under warranty still - which is 5 yrs and 100k miles on the FICM) and it might cost over $1000.

Was only getting 23 volts at the right screw instead of 48 volts. Removed it and took it over to a electronic shop that repairs them. Will know the outcome tomorrow afternoon. Think I will take my goldwing out for a ride now . Thanks everyone. Tony
