Please help me.I am at a loss. I have a 1994 Ford ranger. 4.0 V6 4X4 I cannot get the turn signals to work. The bulbs are good. Fuse is good. Wipers work. Hazards work but I cannot figure out why the turn signals don't work. I asked a friend who had the same trouble..he couldn't figure it out either..he sold his truck. I don't want to have to sell it : ( PLEASE someone help.
First you need to come up with a wiring diagram either a FSM or a Haynes. You need a test light and/or a Vom meter. My guess is a multifunction switch problem on the column. you will need to check the wiring to MFS for current in and current out. The hazards working would say wiring out to the lights is good. A wiring diagram will give which color wires do what so you can check.
Check your flasher unit. On my 03 it's up under dash near steering column in a black enclosure. The one on your 94 could look different but in same general area. Mine quit working and I removed and cleaned terminals on flasher unit and reinstalled it. Fixed it and never had a problem since.
Welcome to FTE. This is a great site for all things Ranger.
I agree with 03 Maz B23. The problem may be as simple and inexpensive as a bad flasher unit. Swap the turn signal flasher with the hazzard flasher as a way to make a quick check.
If it turns out that you need a new MultiFunction Switch, LMC Truck is another source. If money is tignt, a salvage yard is a good source of a replacement too.
