Ok so my truck got swiped 2 weeks ago the shop insurance sent it too cant find a hub for me. I thought i found one but it has a 8 bolt pattern and mine is a 9 bolt does anyone know where i can get a 9 bolt pattern hub???
thats what i thought and i never really payed attention to it but the guy at the shop said i had 9 screw it i'm riding my bike down there and figuring this out for myself
and its a ttb 50
would that change anything
ok good.
So now i have a story to tell
I just had to ride my bike down to the body shop that has been claiming the parts are discontinued to physically show them and then talk to someone on the phone for them to order my hub. apparently the guy in the office thought the 9/16 bolt size meant 9 bolts on a 16 inch wheel. even though it said "# of bolts: 8" directly above it. I trust the shop guy will fix it well because these guys are supposed to be a really good shop but damn their office guys are completely incompetent.
And some people dont get why guys like us would prefer to work on our truck instead of paying someone else to do it
I was angry when Rocky Mountain Diesel just forgot to inform me that my slave cylinder was dead when they replaced the ring gear, but then deemed to inform me when they broke a tranny bolt, they are good mechanics, but the office sometimes....makes me wonder, then they tell me they are charging me for them breaking a bolt....I spoke to the mechanic that did the work and he went and yelled at the kid running the front counter...apparently finding someone who isnt an idiot is harder than it looks.
Everytime somebody else touches my truck it ends badly, Just look at my right front tire and guess weither or not i outsouced the alingment. Then they were telling me my rear pinion seal was leaking, I knew that a told them I does that it sat all winter, yet they offered to fix it for a large sum, i said no again, and when i was getting in the truck to leave, i noticed my left front spring was wet, my master cylinder was leaking badly. So they worked on the front end found "major" issues in the rear end, and managed to miss the dripping brake fluid right where they were working on it.

Are you sure they fixed the front alignment? I too hate to let any body work on one of my vehicles and I don't if I can avoid it. when I can't help it I usually stand around looking over their shoulder to see that it is done to my satisfaction If I can't do that I try to find another shop to do the work.
ok good.

Terrible Your Insurance co. picked these guys??
I believe I would call whoever you were working with at the ins co and ask them what kind of low end shop they sent my truck to after you had to go down and explain something to them that is as basic as ford trucks get. But that is just the trouble maker in me trying to stir the pot. But it really does hurt the creditability of that shop. you should look over every thing there doing to your truck very carefully till you are sure it's right before you accept it as done.

I know they didn't i was closer setting it in the garage, my whell was just cocked. They used a laser rack, I talked to the guy in town that checks the cars the "other" guys set on their laser racks with his own dials. He said they had a computer rack but got rid of it, he said it would be off on the first car after calibration.
I actually picked the company My insurance company had "preferred shops" and this one had an A+ rating from the BBB and has been in business for 20+ years so they seemed good. I have confidence in the mechanics (or else the rating would be worse i suspect) but I think the office crew just has no experience with older vehicles because its in the middle of boston so most of the stuff they see is newer. And dont worry I'll be checking everything over and maybe even taking apart just to be safe.
