Inline engine noise??
Hi I have a 1993 Ford f150 single cab XL. I have noticed that under acceleration the engine make a sort of ticking noise, it's hard to explain but I don't think it is a engine knock. My buddies have a 1994 Ford f150 single cab XL and his does the same thing. My other buddy has a 1996 Ford f150 single cab XLT and it does not make that noise. Does anyone know what this is, and can help me fix it?

I would check your oil pressure at the block with a manual OP guage. They are only $20 and the OP guage you have in your cab is most likely a idiot light (pressure switch that kicks on at 7psi so you don't know real OP).
I would also check your compression in cylinders. I know this doesn't help for this particular diagnostic but between compression and OP it tells you the overall health of your motor.
If your truck had a previous owner that waited a long long time between oil changes carbon build up on the head can block the oil passages starving the engine of oil. Likewise chunks of that carbon can break loose and move to the oil plan blocking the oil pick up screen and starve the engine of oil also. No oil on the top end would cause a lifter/rocker knock... Same problem I had with my 92 years ago.

I am assuming you have the 300 six by the title of you rpost. If so, my suggestion is check the air injection pipe. It runs along the head, under the upper intake runners. Very common exhaust leak, and most noticable under acceleration. If it is bad, check out psiinc.com and order a new one. new tube with fittings for about $120. Takes about 6 to 12 hours to replace if you have never had the upper intake off before.

these were my thoughts. "ticking" is normally an exhaust leak, or a collapsed lifter. a collapsed lifter would tick all the time, in relation with engine rpm.
