There are no magic bullets that will make a significant impact on your MPG's and pay for themselves in most cases. The best way to get good mileage is to have a properly maintained vehicle and drive it like a little old lady.
Unless you're trying to mod your truck and need help convincing the wife. In that case then YES, the cold air intake will do wonders for your mileage
Well i can't say for a fact but I think I got a slight increase in mpg with the 6637 kit from riffraff, what I know for a fact is I has better throttle response and smoother over all drivabilty after the install, I did see a big difference in that aspect, and I quit smoking the world out behind me after I got rid of that stock air box and k&n!
Go to clay at riffraff!
X3 on the 6637 intake kit from Riffraff, less than $100
But keep in mind that just increasing the intake air won't help MPG's a whole lot. You also need to increase the exhaust flow. For the most gain you should replace the stock pancake downpipe with a 3" round pipe. Again, less than $100 for a Diamond Eye and Riffraff should have it.
Also if you still have a Cat on there most on here would suggest "losing" it or at least gutting it for better flow. The stock muffler flows pretty well, the cat will kill airflow...
x4 on the 6637 riffraff intake! Its awesome and when I put it in the startup and throttle response and driveability all got better!
Compared to any cold air intake I believe you get your best bang for your buck going the 6637. $80 compared to $300...$400?
And exhaust is a must too. And a ts 6 chip...and some gauges...and a better trans, intercooler, HPOP, stage 2.5 hybrids and and...ANDDDD...plenty more
but mainly exhaust, intake, and a ts 6 position chip will help with driveability and mileage.
