Towing EOT/ECT's

I am curious about what you guys see when you are towing a large trailer. I know the 15 degree spread is 65 unloaded on the highway and I am now below that. I am running 13 consistently unloaded havent towed the RV yet...

Just curious let me know

Daniel

Miy delta hangs around 13 also. If you tow it's gonna creep up though. I've seen EOT as high as 240 on hills with 10k fifth wheel in tow. Deltas of 23-25. Upper 90's OAT. Almost panicked but temps will come down some if I slow down so it is "kinda" managable. After some discussion online and with a couple of guys at work, I think it's a borderline problem. From what I understand dino oil is ok (not scorching) up to 260 or more. I gotta wonder if those are the conditions that causes the silicate drop out though. I have put a coolant filter on mine and plan to replace the oil cooler over the holidays and be easy on the towing until then.

I run about 5-7 or so unloaded. It stays pretty much the same towing, but both temps run a little higher. I don't think I've seen more than a 10 degree difference while towing, and even that wasn't on flat ground. I've gotten to ECT 220 and EOT 230 on long, steep hills pulling a 5th wheel a bit under 15K pounds.
