I test drove a new silver 2wd Supercrew Lariat yesterday with the Ecoboost. That thing was awesome! As I have stated in other threads, I have wanted a silver Lariat for years now, but haven't been a big fan of the black interior. After seeing and driving that truck, I may just have to go with the black interior because that silver sure looked good!
The truck has navigation and a moonroof, both of which are not must haves for me, but I could see where they would be nice to have.
The dealership is offering to sell it to me for $100.00 over the invoice (which he showed me) and then I would get the additional $3,500 in discounts off of that. They are going to give me 2 years/24,000 miles free routine maintenance. They offered me $9,000 for my 04 Supercrew XLT with 110,000 miles. I told him I would think about it over the weekend and get back with him. Salesman was very nice and knowledgeable, and the sales manager was the same way. No pressure at all. They stayed after closing time and didn't try to rush me in any way.
I thought it was a pretty fair deal. What do you think?
MSRP is $43,600 and the price before any of the rebates or trade is $39,893. Throw in the rebates and the price before trade comes to $36,393.
Been 7 years since I bought a new truck, so figured I would get some opinions in here before commiting to a deal.
Sounds fair, but you can do better. Appears to be a little over invoice and there is about $1,500.00 in holdback money on that truck. Do yourself a favor. Go on line and request a brochore for the F-150 to be mailed to you. I have done this twice and recieved coupon for $750.00 off, did it with my last purchase a week ago. If your credit is good, Ford Credit will work with you. I got the additional $1,000.00 off (for using Ford Credit) and they gave me 3.4% for 72 months. The total off MSRP for my $41,000.00+ truck was about 22%. They also gave me top dollor on my trade. Good luck.
Also, I agree with pkvir - you can get a better deal than that. I've seen a lot of guys on here getting deals closer to 30. Search the threads for "pricing".
And I would sell your truck privately - you'll get more money for it - I sold my '03 explorer on craigslist within a week of posting it. The dealer had offered me 3k and I sold it privately for 8k. Much prettier down payment.
And, if you wait another month, the 12's should be introduced which might make the dealer more anxious to make a deal on the "older" 11's.
Thanks for all of the replies. I am going to work on them some more to see if they will take a little more off. I am also going to try to get them to throw in some step bars and put a pin stripe on it as well.
Pkvir, how long did it take for your brochure to come in? I ordered one online to be mailed to me a little over a week ago.

Hopefully you'll get your coupon quick.
I recently bought a new truck and even though I'm retired, I was able to take advantage of a $1000 military appreciation bonus. Unfortunately I had to give up my $750 coupon from Ford. Still $250 better.
I used Ford financing and got 1.9% for 72 months and got a $1000 for that, plus factory rebates and the dealer sweetened the pot by making my first two payments for me. I got about 7K off my truck, it retailed for $36,460.
Once they run your credit and figure that you can buy whatever in the hell you want, they will fall over themselves to get you done. Offer them $500 below invoice plus incentives and rebates. They can only say no or counter offer.

I'm going to try and get the $750 coupon. Sent off for "More information" today. In what situations can't you use the coupon?

You don't have to wait and receive the coupon, it gets placed in the "system" right away; maybe two days. I was driving my new truck before I received my coupon in the mail.

The coupon MAY be void if you are using a military appreciation rebate, a law enforcement rebate, etc. Bring everything with you to the dealer and they will know what works and what does not. Ask to see proof if any of your rebates, coupons or incentives are denied for what ever reason.
If you want a new truck then list yours for sale today. Most who sell their own vehicle usually come a minimum of $2K to $3K to the better. Some do even better than that. If you only get the minimum gain of $2K and then have your $750 coupon and then buy your new truck for $1,250 below invoice you will start off this relationship with your new truck $4,100 of after income tax dollars to the good at a minimum. Plus rebates if they change at all will have gone in your favor, plus you will have less financed and thus pay less in interest over the life of the loan. I actually beleive that if you proceed this way that you will most likely be a $5,ooo plus winner. I sold Fords for a long time and I promise you that I would not personally even pay as much for the truck as I have suggested you do. Always remember that for most people the worst car accident that they will have in their life will take place in the closing situation or even more likely in the F&I office. Also remember to never pay over 1/2 price for a Ford extended warranty either. Happy shopping and remember the old saying "Let the buyer beware".
They threw in our extended warranty for free Fight hard! And don't get stuck on one dealer - sometimes if you go somewhere else, you can say "Hey, they offered me this, what can you do?" And if it that one specific truck you are looking at - dealers usually will transfer amongst themselves!

Very good advice. I did this when buying our new maxima last year. I was just honest with both dealers. I told them to give me their lowest price and then went back and forth. it took 5 times each at both places. I ended up getting a great deal. Just be patient and for sure tell them that you will go elsewhere. Check for the true market value in your area as well. I ended up quite a bit below that, just by shopping around.
And when they tell you they can't go any lower, thats just not true, they can and will if they want your business. Also you can deal with the internet managers. If you save 1,000 by flying to another city to get your truck then go for it, if the ticket is well under 1k of course Just take your time and remember that you are in charge, don't let them force any timelines on you. When buying our maxima it took me 2 weeks to get what I wanted. Well worth it!
Well, I got them down to $7207 off MSRP and they are going to give me $9600 for my trade. The KBB value for my trade was $8700 in excellent condition and $10,835 if I sold it myself, so I am ok with what they want to give me for it. I think I'll talk to them in the morning and tell them if they throw in the running boards, I'll do the deal. Hoping TS Emily doesn't mess with us here in Savannah and mess any of these plans up!
