I'm installing a Tailgate LED Lightbar& it needs a 12v source along with the 4 pin trailer connector. I looked in the fuse box under the hood & didn't see any available. Any suggestions?
How do you intend to use it?
Full time or just when the tail lights are on?
If when tails are on, tap into the rear tail lamp lead.
This type bar doesn't draw very much current.
Ok BG7. I see what You're saying. Tap into the taillites & they will work when the lights are on. That is an option. And You really can't see them in the daylight, anyway. Thanks.
If they are combination red and amber with two feeds and a ground, use both the tail light and the stop/ turn signal leads.
Then you have full operation at all times.
There is another way.
If you use two relays that draw very little current, they can be operated from each lead to ground to connect battery from a single feed from the front thru a fuse due to the long run, for safety.
The point of the small relays is neither the relays or the feed will be passing very much current.
Good luck.
