Lost Trailer Interior lights !! HELP!!

Ok guys heres the delima,

The tow vehicle is a 1997 expedition. I have it wired for brakes and a 7 pin connection. about 3 weeks ago my interior lights quit working on the trailer(they only work when the truck is on), So i started messing around with the connector at the back of the truck. I found that the 12v+ is dead there is no power there at all when the truck is running. Im assuming that my trailer interior lights ran off this one since they would only come on when the truck was running. I have all the rest of the lights, turn, stop, parking, and brakes but no power to the interior lights. I checked every single fuse that i could find that runs the 12v+ and none of them were blown. I really need help i need these interior lights to work can anyone offer any input PLEASE im going nutz!! I have no idea why i cannot get the power to the back 7 pin connector all help is appreciated !!

Thanks,
John

Did you check the fuses (maxi) under the hood also?

The circuit you are looking for is the Trailer Battery Charge. The fuse is under the hood in the fuse box. If I remember correctly, that curcuit also runs through the relay box attached to the back of that fuse box. Check that and all connections. You could also possibly have a wire loose in the RV plug on the truck.

I thought about the loose wire thing so i put a simple splice in there and tested it with a light tester and im not getting anything there i wish i knew what happened im really getting fustrated with this and i just need the interior lights to work!! so do you have a diagram of which relay im looking at or which fuses i should be checking? i wish i could get this figured out it just up and happened all at once !!

I don't have my truck or a book in front of me right now, but the owner's manual should have a listing of which fuse goes to the trailer charge circuit. On my '96 350, I think it is a 30 amp maxi. On mine, there is a small relay box attached to the back of the fuse box under the hood. This has two short harnesses coming out with plugs on the end, one gray and one black(I think). I added the tow package to mine and I had to add that relay box to get my tr ch to work. I could be that relay or the big fuse. one of the above plugs connects to a harness from the fuse box. The other connects to a harness going to the back of the truck. Hope some of this helps.
