Need Help with Trailer Lighting

I have a small 4x8 open trailer I wired up. It had a standard 4 pin plug and when I finally went to check the lights on it ---

I have brake lights and turning lights working fine, BUT the parking lights do not turn on at all. I pulled to 7 to 4 pin adapter off my hitch and checked the brown/white wire on the trucks 7 pin adapter for any power and doesn't seem to be getting any when the parking lights on the truck are on... Anyone have any ideas ? Any particular reason how/why those lights aren't working... where can I go from here ?

I usually have to wire these, test and then swap the wires left to right (when using hoppy's diagram.) By this diagram, it looks like the upper right connector is the tails. Double check that this one doesn't have power and then double check it's not the other side too.

On the truck, the trailer connector is usually relay isolated and has it's own fuses. I suspect these fuses are under the hood and where I would start.

[b] by the way, they use the wrong wire colors in this chart.[b] if you want to see them correctly try this link http://www.hopkinstowingsolutions.com/doc/48485.pdf

Thanks for the info and diagrams... I tested to see if there was any power coming through those and haven't got any. I'm hoping that something wasn;t cut at one point and I have to figure out how to trace it

Is there a specific fuse/relay that I need to check for trailering ?

Check the fuses in the box under the hood (black box driver side). I think they are 7amp and they work the trailer lights. I had a similiar issue and had a blown fuse. Hope this helps.

good news !!! I pulled the relays in the engine bay and checked each and every one-- one of them was actually cracked. I swapped it with the rear window power washer relay and presto lit right up ... Now I just have to see about picking up a new replacement for the rear washer ...

Check the prices. Bosch style relays sell for $2.50 each to $12 each. I found them for $2.50 at the online electronic component stores (mouser, digikey, ect), local radio shack was ~$7.50 and I unfortunately bought one at an automotive store and was charged $11.75.

So check around before paying through the nose for one.
