yes E4OD problems again!!

ok...just installed a different tranny in my 93 F-350 5.8. It has been running and shifting great for a week. Today I hauled and empty stock trailer with a 4x5 round bail in the bed and now it shifts hard (sometimes) and shifts too soon (and doesn't like to kick down very well either). Going to try to do self test tomorrow to get any codes (is there a way of clearing codes doing a self test?) The tranny is supposed to have been rebuilt and not have a lot of miles on it. It has fresh fluid, but I did not change the filter. ( I have a new one if you think it will help.Any ideas?

Have you checked that the tranny has enough fluid since the rebuild? mine was lacking almost 2qts. and it started acting up.

My E4OD was doing the same crap, and I changed the Speed Sensor at the Differential, and it now shifts perfect!

I think I would check for trouble codes, may help to pinpoint the problem.
You can clear any codes in two ways. You can disconnect the neg battery terminal for about 5min or, after you have read any/all codes and while the computer is blinking out the codes again, if you disconnect the ground wire from the STI connector, the codes should clear (as I understand it).

Thanks for the replies....but while under the truck checking to see if mlps had shifted i noticed a wire that po tapped into to run over to ground on the mlps plug had come loose from the plug(yellow wire)....i took off the extra wire and butt spliced it back to the plug....shifts fine now...(good thing have to take horse to fair today....lol)....will be buying a new plug tho...wire at plug was very short...hopefully butt splice stays on for a bit....thanx again people...love this forum

Great to hear that you found the problem.
And thanks to rla for confirming the code erase method.
